Haptic Blade is a fidget toy inspired by the 2004 exhibition Haptic, curated by Japanese designer Kenya Hara. The idea is to distort the utility of a utility knife blade by eliminating its primary function (cutting), rendering it effectively harmless.
The blade is covered with clear corner tape, making it visually recognizable but altering its perception through other senses (touch, sound, and taste), creating a sense of estrangement for the user who finds themselves handling an object they can manipulate without fear.
